Congratulations on your acceptance to the University of Mary Washington! If you are planning to attend UMW beginning in Fall 2026, you will attend Summer Orientation.
First-Year Orientation
Starting at UMW in Fall 2026? Your college experience begins with Summer Orientation.
This two-day, in-person program is your first step into life at Mary Washington. You’ll meet other new Eagles, explore campus, connect with key resources, prepare for course registration, and start building friendships before classes begin in August.
Summer Orientation is offered on multiple dates in June and is required for all first-year and transfer students. It’s designed to help you feel ready, connected, and confident as you begin your first semester.
There is no upfront cost to attend Orientation — the program fee will be billed to your UMW student account. You may bring guests, but they must register in advance. A $50 fee applies for each guest age 7 or older.
Transfer Orientation
Starting at UMW as a transfer student? Your college experience begins with Transfer Orientation.
This one-day, in-person program is your first step into life at Mary Washington. You’ll meet fellow transfer students, explore campus, connect with key resources, and start building relationships that help you feel confident and prepared for your transition.
Transfer Orientation is required for all incoming transfer students and is designed to help you feel ready, connected, and confident as you begin your first semester.
