Transfer Student Profile

The University of Mary Washington welcomes applications for transfer from other colleges and universities. UMW is a residential community and approximately 65 percent of students live on campus. Housing is available for transfer students.

The University is committed to a seamless transfer of students from the Virginia Community College System (VCCS) through the Guaranteed Admission Agreement (GAA) for those who complete a transfer-compatible associate’s degree. Visit the transfer credit guide for additional information on a list of courses from the VCCS that are accepted.

Fall 2011

  • 36 students used GAA
  • 65% came from 19 campuses of the Virginia Community College System
  • 18% came from 18 other Virginia colleges and universities
  • 17% came from 23 institutions outside Virginia

  • 13 students used the GAA
  • 50% students came from 11 campuses of the Virginia Community College System
  • 25% came from 17 other Virginia colleges and universities
