Please follow these steps to become part of the UMW Family.
Fill out the New Student Questionnaire so that we can assign your faculty advisor.
After accepting your offer of admission, you will receive an email with the New Student Questionnaire. This email will be sent from the university in mid-June. The Office of Academic Services will use your academic profile/interests to match each new student with a faculty academic advisor. Your advisor will assist you with course selection and registration. If you have any questions about academic programs and the advising process, please call the Office of Academic Services at 540/654-1010.
Submit the Housing and Dining Services Contract.
(by June 12; residential students only)
In order to receive your housing assignment in July, you must submit your Housing and Dining Services Contract through the EagleNet website (www.umw.edu) by June 12, 2012. Applications received after June 12 will be assigned on a rolling basis with notification once the assignment is complete in the EagleNet website. Housing assignments will be available through the EagleNet website. First-year residential students must make a two-year commitment to living in student housing. Changes in housing status after May 1, 2012, are made only in extremely unusual circumstances. Any student who is granted a change from residential to commuting status after May 1 will forfeit the $500 deposit and must then make an additional deposit of $250 to enroll as a commuting student. Please contact the Office of Admissions at 540/654-2000 if you have questions about your housing status.
Send your final grades or final official transcript to UMW.
(by July 1)
Each high-school senior must provide evidence of graduation from an accredited secondary school or the equivalent. UMW will send you a final grade report form. You must complete the appropriate section and then give the form to your guidance counselor. It is the responsibility of each accepted student to request that final records be sent to UMW, including any dual enrollment transcripts and AP or IB score reports. Final grades or a final transcript must be received by the University no later than July 1, 2012. The Admissions Committee may reconsider the application of any student whose final grades show a general decline or the dropping of academic courses to lighten the course load. The dean of admissions will inform a student whose record is being reviewed and will notify the student of the committee’s final decision. For Transfer Students: If you are transferring to UMW from another institution of higher education, please request that an official final transcript be sent to UMW reporting all grades received. You are responsible for having a transcript of all spring semester course work forwarded to the Office of Admissions as soon as it is available. The Office of the Registrar will provide a credit evaluation for all dual enrollment, AP, and IB programs as well as transfer work.
Register for classes.
(mid-July)
Incoming students will participate in online registration for classes in mid-July. Details about online registration will be available in Eagle Essentials student handbook, which will be mailed to you in May, and on the EagleNet website, which will have additional personalized information.
Complete and submit your health forms.
(by Aug. 1)
All incoming full-time students must provide a complete health history, immunization record, and tuberculosis (TB) screening form to the Health Center by August 1, 2012. These forms can be downloaded. Please print the entire form and fill it in completely. Your health-care provider must review all three sections and SIGN the immunization and TB screening sections. Students who do not submit the forms by Aug. 1, 2012, will have a hold placed on their accounts and will not be able to register for second-semester classes until the completed forms are submitted.
Please mail or fax forms by Aug. 1, 2012, to:
